Mike McLaren
Mike McLaren is the founder and CEO of Nuventis which he created in 2018 as a platform to help companies drive strategic sales in the North American Market. Simplifying complex technologies into core value propositions that customers can understand and use to make important business decisions is at the heart of what we provide. The communications industry has been driven by extraordinary technical innovation where acronyms can get out of hand pretty quickly and sometimes the underlying technology can get lost or misunderstood the point where the wrong business decisions are getting made. We can help with this.
Prior to Nuventis Mike was leading a software sales team at Nokia where he developed innovative results based revenue models for platforms which were credited over $1.5B in operational savings in customer care. No one had sold using this model before into a Tier 1 telco and it ended up being very beneficial for both the vendor and the customer. He has been with large companies, hyper growth companies, start ups and worked leading engineering teams, marketing teams, finance teams and sales teams. Companies have included Corning, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia, Proquent, ASSIA, Axiros, PHYTunes.
Mike has a formal education in Material Science Engineering from Rutgers University (BS) and an MBA in technology management from the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. Along the way he has taken executive management courses through Wharton and Thunderbird and most recently went through the Draper University Hero Training.
Currently Mike is a co-founder of PHYTunes ( www.phytunes.com ) where he is running the sales and marketing operations. The company was founded in January 2021 and is growing quickly with multiple successful funding rounds and a 5 fold increase in valuation to date.
Mike also got his captains license in 2020 and runs an occasional charter on the San Francisco Bay on the Celtic Spirits which is a Sea Ray Sundancer Express Cruiser with twin diesels. On a nice day this might also be the office of choice. He is married to Teresa McLaren and has two boys, one of which graduated from UC Berkeley in Molecular Cellular Biology and is now teaching STEM to high school students at a Magnate School in Los Angeles through the Teach for America program and another who is a student at the University of San Diego. The whole family loves the water and finds adventures in SCUBA. Mike swam in the Sharkfest Escape from Alcatraz several times now and enjoys Masters swimming when he can find the time.
